Today we took part in The Rotary Club of St Austell Bay’s Cornish Alpine Challenge raising money for the Merlin MS Centre.

Luckily it didn’t rain the whole time. But I don’t think either of us are going to dry out any time soon.

The incredible scenery that surrounded us on not usually accessible Imerys land made up for the hellish terrain (yes, I prefer asphalt, yes I’m a Lycra wearing road cyclist) but even if though I was way out of my comfort zone, I made it. Mike’s encouragement certainly helped following my gearing issues that meant I couldn’t use my lowest gears, not funny given some of the eye watering climbs and savage terrain.

All in all, now we’ve lived to tell the tale, a fun morning of clay water and grit.

Lots of money raised for Merlin and a sterling job done by St Austell Rotary.
